Gekko Expands Range Of LED Lighting At NAB 2010

A world leader in LED lighting systems for film and television, reported strong interest in its equipment range among delegates to the 2010 NAB convention in Las Vegas.
The largest exhibition in the broadcast trade exhibition calendar, the show attracted over 88,000 registered attendees from 156 countries. Exhibiting with PRG, Gekko Technology's US Distributor, the company was represented by David Amphlett (Managing Director) and Ian Muir (Business Development Manager).
David Amphlett commented: "Our LED lighting systems deliver a uniquely powerful combination of creative freedom, accurate colour temperature control and energy efficiency. We were able to demonstrate our wide range of LED luminaires in an exhibition display configured as a complete studio set. What impressed visitors most about Gekko lighting was the ability to achieve exactly the effects they require, quickly and as reliably as any tungsten or fluorescent based technology. Our systems can achieve extremely accurate colour within the white spectrum without need for gel, and dynamic colour effects that lighting directors will find very exciting."
"NAB fully justified its claim to be an international show," added Ian Muir. "Visitors to the Gekko booth included stalwarts from major broadcast organisations and resellers in Europe, the Middle East and the southern America countries. The show also attracted its usual strong attendance from the US in general and Hollywood in particular. Attendance was up on 2009 and our booth location at the head of the Central Hall ensured consistently good traffic flow."
Gekko chose NAB 2010 as the US launch platform for its kezia 50 and 200 hard-source LED lights, both capable of operation under local or DMX control. The ability of kezia to generate high quality tunable whites reduces the need to gel the output. The kezia 50 has an output brightness of a 250 W tungsten lamp-head yet consumes only 50 W of electrical power. The kezia 200 has similar brightness to a 1 kW tungsten whilst consuming less than 200 W. Interchangeable lenses allow either luminaire to be operated in fixed-focus mode with 20 degree, 60 degree or 80 degree beam angle. The kezia 50 and 200 generate far less heat than traditional technologies. Both use Gekko's colour-feedback system which ensures consistent colour temperature as ambient conditions change or as the unit ages. Colour temperature also remains constant as the light is dimmed.
The karesslite 6006 and karesslite 6012 Dual (daylight/tungsten switchable version) were also introduced to the US market following their launch at the BVE show in London during February. Based on the 6 x 12 emitter 600 x 300 mm karesslite 6012, the karesslite 6006 incorporates a 6 x 6 emitter array measuring 300 x 300 mm. Power consumption is correspondingly halved to 45 W, allowing more than three hours of continuous operation from a single rear-mountable V-Lock battery. The karesslite 6006 can be used as a single soft light source or combined with additional karesslites into a larger multiple light source. Available as daylight or tungsten, the fixture has on-board dimming as well as built in DMX.
