DCD Factual Division Takes Shape

DCD Media, the UK independent production and distribution group, has unveiled the first of a number of changes within its newly launched factual division led by Creative Director Charles Thompson.
Its Cardiff-based company, Prospect Cymru, is to become DCD Factual's main popular factual producer. Prospect Cymru will appoint a Cardiff-based Head of Programming to spearhead the expansion of its existing slate, which includes, amongst others, the upcoming How Not To Be Pregnant (working title) a major 6-part series for BBC Three.
West Park Pictures, which has been responsible for factual programming such as Stephen Fry in America and Last Chance To See, undergoes a management restructure, with Founder and Chief Executive Andre Singer stepping down to become a Consultant to the factual division. Charles Thompson will assume responsibility for West Park's existing slate of programming, which includes documentaries for Channel 4, Discovery UK and various corporate clients.
Charles Thompson commented: "West Park will from now focus on specialist factual production. We make a lot of music and arts and other specialist factual programmes within the division and these will now sit within West Park.
"We owe Andre a debt of gratitude. His successful shows with Stephen Fry have brought DCD a great deal of kudos, including a string of awards. I wish him well and am glad he remains a Consultant to our factual team.
"Wales is a vital part of our factual strategy going forward, and we are now going to expand our activities and investment there. I am looking to appoint a senior creative in Wales who can carry on the long tradition of factual programme-making that has made Prospect Cymru one of our leading factual content providers."
