New Calrec units help BBC train stations

BBC Training and Development have purchased a 12 fader Calrec X Series digital radio console and a 24-channel analogue C2 for their Wood Norton training centre near Evesham.
The X Series, installed in radio studio 1 in Wood Norton’s Avon Wing, aims to familiarise operators with fully assignable digital self-op radio desks.
The C2 in studio 6 has a specially configured control surface. With the emphasis on the C2’s ergonomic control surface the desk will be used as a training platform to mimic the majority of broadcast environments in modern studios.
Wood Norton offers residential training in studio, post-production and location recording. The centre boasts two fully equipped television studios and four radio studios. Three of the six audio consoles are Calrecs.
The BBC operate a further two training centres at Marylebone High Street in central London and at Elstree in Hertfordshire.
