Three Media Associates Launch Modelling Tool At IBC

Three Media Associates has announced that it will launch its new system dynamics modelling tool, mediasim, at IBC 2010.
Tailored to meet the needs of the broadcast and media industry, this unique offering has the clear potential to bring impressive operational, technical and financial benefits with a demonstrable return on investment.
Customised system dynamics modelling allows workflows to be accurately simulated, bottlenecks identified and evolutionary forward plans developed. Mediasim is the ideal tool for companies that recognise the need to change, but are concerned about the capital expenditure and resources required to achieve it.
Dave Headdon, Director of Three Media Associates, said: "In a previous project, our estimate of when the business would reach the limits of its online storage was accurate to within two days. When you are considering a $750k investment, getting the timing right is vital. In another project, we demonstrated that a planned technology upgrade costing $600k was completely unnecessary, as the existing infrastructure could cope with the planned service expansion."
Headdon added: "These are real and dramatic savings, and typical of what can be achieved by taking the time to model business processes and use that to plan for the future. At a time when capital projects are being delayed or cancelled, mediasim represents an opportunity to deliver significant and immediate savings for very little outlay."
The mediasim modelling software brings together masses of disparate data about a business to draw clear and reliable conclusions on the interplay of technology and process and predicts the existence and impact of bottlenecks. Through this data, the user can try different business rules and model their effects, both on the technical workflows and on the commercial structure of the company.
The result is that mediasim predicts when capital investment is required, accurately defines resource levels and drives better business decisions. The results of the processing are presented as clear, compelling and accurate stories, driven by hard information as well as experience.
Headdon concluded: "Given the economic challenges facing our industry today, coupled with the ferocious pace of change in technology, we believe that mediasim is the best way to understand the dynamics of a business and its platforms."
Mediasim is supplied as a core software package tailored to specific business needs by a combined client and Three Media Associates team.
