Corrie Shelved Over Cumbria Tragedy

Real tragedy on the streets of Cumbria last night forced the postponement of a shooting-related episode of a favourite TV soap opera.
An episode of Coronation Street featuring a fatal gunfight was postponed in the wake of the shocking shootings.
In one of several episodes that took four weeks to film - using a purpose-built set - murderer Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien) who had escaped from jail, leaves two characters dying in the blockbuster episode - which in the event was replaced by Harry Hill's TV Burp.
An ITV spokesperson said they decided to shelve the show in light of the "tragic events in Cumbria", adding, "we will continue to review the situation and will announce plans in due course."
The story has therefore yet to be played out but will eventually see Gordon, with the help of Robbie Sloan (James Fleet), hold his ex-wife Carla Connor (Alison King) and Hayley Cropper (Julie Hesmondhalgh) hostage.
Former lover Maria Connor (Samia Smith) also becomes embroiled in the plot when she makes a surprise appearance at 'Underworld'.
Gordon then splashes petrol around the building and sets fire to it.
