Foley facility Universal Sound is now celebrating 40 years in the industry and 20 years providing high quality foley tracks.
Originally located in Perivale, Universal Sound was taken to the next generation by Phill Barrett and Paul Hanks, who transformed the sound dubbing studios into the UK's first dedicated foley facility.
The leading foley specialist's purpose built studios were constructed in Amersham, making Universal Sound uniquely placed to provide the very best foley at an affordable rate.
Universal can offer anything from a single sound effect to a fully managed foley solution for a major feature film, including in house foley artists and mixers, supervision and editing.
Universal Sound boasts an impressive features foley suite with the foley stage sunk into the ground and isolated from the recording theatre by a custom made Pilkington glass wall, allowing picture to be projected from within the glass over the heads of the foley artists onto an 8m screen. The sound effects and footsteps created are recorded to the latest Protools HD systems up to 192kHz, before being further enhanced and edited ready for supply to the client. Two further television foley studios and a fully heated indoor swimming/effects pool complete what is probably the most extensive dedicated foley facility in the country.
Recent film projects include James Bond and Green Zone, with television dramas including Luther, 5 Days, Waterloo Road and Law and Order.
