Lancashire Film Festival On Screen
Up-and-coming Danny Boyles and Quentin Tarantinos are being invited to pitch their movie ideas to industry professionals at a brand new free film festival being staged at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
LIFE - Lancashire International Film Festival – will celebrate the cinematic creativity that is thriving in the region at the event being held at the university's Media Factory from May 22-23.
The two-day festival will showcase the creative output from UCLan's tutors, including a special screening of micro-budget feature film Car Park, a film, which has been shown nationally, was written, directed and produced by screen writing course leader, Bill McCoid.
BAFTA award-winning film About a Girl will also be screened with a question and answer session hosted by its creator, Julie Rutterford.
During the weekend film buffs, students and graduates will also get the opportunity to test-drive their ideas to a panel of industry professionals in a 15-minute 'speed pitch' on Saturday, May 22.
Before the festival begins experienced producer, Chris Pyke, will provide one-to-one tutorials on Wednesday, May 12, to help the wannabe filmmakers develop their ideas, build confidence and receive expert advice and support.
Event organiser Ric Michael, a lecturer in the School of Journalism, Media and Communication, said: "The festival will be full with industry professionals, academics from various universities, students, graduates and creative individuals.
"It will be an excellent networking opportunity for anyone trying to get their foot in the door of the competitive film industry."
For free tickets, further details about pitching an idea or to hold a meeting, screening or workshop contact Ric Michael on [email protected] or visit www.lancsfilm.org.uk
