Gekko Technology Launches Award-Winning Karesslite High-Output LED Luminaire

Gekko Technology has announced that its karesslite high-output LED luminaire is now in production.
Previewed at recent major film and television industry trade events and winner of an award from the IBC 2009 What Caught My Eye team, karesslite is a highly efficient 600 x 300 mm soft panel for studio or on-location applications.
Consuming just 85 W, it can be operated continuously for over three hours from two V-Lock batteries.
David Amphlett, Gekko Technology's Founder and Managing Director, said: "The addition of karesslite to our product line has brought us to the point where we can supply LED-based lighting for practically every area of studio and mobile operation.
"LED-based lighting offers many advantages over filament-based technology, including instant switch-on and high reliability as well as high tolerance of vibration and shock.
"The age-old risk of destroying with a filament by moving a luminaire while hit simply does not arise with LEDs. LED lighting is also very much in step with the proven need to maximise energy efficiency both on legislative as well as common-sense ground. Being very smooth across the visible spectrum, LED light is ideal for flesh tones and free from forward heat projection. It is preferred by many actors and presenters."
Gekko's Business Development Manager Ian Muir said: "Inherently high optical efficiency in addition to beam-modifying optics make karesslite one of the most powerful LED soft lights on the market. An integral diffusion grading modifies the beam without the light restriction caused by traditional egg-crate light diffusers.
"The karesslite can be used as a single unit in portrait or landscape position with three switchable sectors. It can also be combined with additional karesslites into a larger multiple light source. Light output can be adjusted ti daylight or tungsten and varied in intensity using an internal dimmer with user-memory or via a DMX-interfaced remote lighting controller."
An optional padded carry-case is available for the karesslite, providing protection without significantly increasing transit weight.
