Red Bee Resume Talks As Strike backed

Members at Red Bee Media have voted in large numbers to take strike action over their disputes with the company - so strong are the mandates that agreement has been reached to resume talks on Monday 19th April.
Talks between Red Bee Media and media and entertainment union, BECTU, are to reopen following overwhelming support for strike action in ballots which closed this week.
BECTU members are involved in two disputes with the company – one concerns management’s attempts to slash redundancy pay, the other concerns increases in travel costs for staff who work unsociable hours.
In ballot results declared this week, 83 per cent of members voted for strike action over the planned cuts in redundancy pay; 80 per cent of members backed the call for strike action over the increase in the costs of late night and early morning transport.
Within a short time of the ballot results, BECTU invited management to resume talks and agreement was reached to reopen negotiations on Monday 19th April.
"We congratulate our members on the mandate they have given BECTU. The strength of the views expressed on both issues is something which management can no longer dismiss.
"We look forward to the talks on Monday and trust they will achieve what we all want, an agreement on the way forward," commented National Official Suresh Chawla.
Red Bee Media, many of whose staff were previously employed by the BBC, look after playout and other key broadcast services for the BBC, Channel 4, UKTV and several other broadcasters.
