Strike Action On EastEnders

Staff on EastEnders have taken strike action in a dispute over travel time and expenses.
The staff affected, all of whom work for Studios and Post Production Ltd, a BBC subsidiary, are contesting their employer's decision to remove long-established entitlements to travel time and expenses relating to a change in base from Television Centre to Elstree.
Yesterday's strike, which involved a group of 27 staff, will be followed by a period of further strike action on Friday 20th August, Thursday 26th August and Wednesday 1st September.
In addition, a range of continuous action short of strike is set to start on 18th August.
Supervisory Official Helen Ryan commented: "This dispute will only be resolved by further talks with management. We hope that today's action will encourage management to resume serious talks."
