Sky Movies Showcase HD Channel

News Image
Sky Movies have now announced a number of changes to its channel line-up in a bid to make it easier for viewers to find the movies they want to watch from its 21 multiplex screens.
To improve channel clarity, Sky Movies introduce Sky Movies Showcase/HD (formerly Screen 1); a new channel dedicated to showcasing all of Sky Movies’ seasons, specials, box sets and movie collections; from the best of a particular film genre to a spotlight on a star or inspiring director.
Sky Movies Showcase/HD launches on Friday 26th March with ‘The Mummy Weekend’ featuring all three Mummy movies starring Brendan Fraser. The adventure continues on Sky Movies Showcase/HD with Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of Crystal Skull and National Treasure: Book of Secrets.
Throughout 2010, Sky Movies Showcase/HD will continue to offer movie fans fantastic seasons and one-off specials including ‘Tim Burton Weekend’, ‘Canine Capers’ and ‘Need For Speed – The Ultimate Car Season’, with all of this great movie content also available in glorious high definition on Sky Movies Showcase HD.
In addition to the introduction of Sky Movies Showcase/HD, a number of the Sky Movies genre channels will be changing in order to further improve the clarity of the Sky Movies service, which shows 450 different movies each week.
As such, Sky Movies is delighted to introduce the following new channels: Sky Movies Action & Adventure/HD (formerly Sky Movies Action & Thriller), Sky Movies Drama & Romance/HD (formerly Sky Movies Drama), Sky Movies Crime & Thriller/HD (formerly Sky Movies Screen 2).
Commenting on the new channel line-up, Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies and Sky Box Office said: "Not content to simply offer the widest choice of films on UK television, Sky Movies is dedicated to bringing the best movie content to its customers in a way which is at once accessible and entertaining. With the introduction of the new channel line-up, not only can film fans find and enjoy their favourites with ease but also enjoy a range of fantastic seasons, specials and collections on Sky Movies Showcase HD."
Sky Movies has a total of 10 HD channels available, showing more HD film content than any other UK broadcaster.
