BBC Salaries Exceed PM's

Dozens of BBC executives are paid substantially more than Gordon Brown.
In a revelation that is bound to ignite further criticism over widespread BBC cut-backs and staff reductions, it has emerged today that 37 BBC staff earn more than the Prime Minister.
After the corporation disclosed the scale of its senior salaries for the first time, it was shown that the 107 'most senior decision makers' earn £22m a year between them.
However, the London Times has disclosed that nearly 300 BBC senior managers earning more than £100,000, were kept off the list.
Some of them earn more than Gordon Brown, whose salary is £197,689 - although he draws only £192,414.
Meanwhile, on-screen stars, such as Jonathan Ross, who earns an estimated £6 million a year, was also left out.
Those who were on the list included Mark Thompson, the Director-General, who earned £834,000 - far in excess of the man running the United Kingdom.
A BBC spokesman told the Times today: "The senior managers have been selected according to their salary, responsibility, influence and membership of a BBC board.
"They are those who have the greatest responsibility for spending public money and for overseeing the BBC's services and operations."
