ChilliBean Looks To Aspera To Spice Up Its File Transfers

The 'rich media' digital asset management specialist, ChilliBean, working with leading international advertising agencies, has selected high-speed file transfer expert Aspera to provide the fast and reliable upload and transportation of content to up to 70 global destinations.
Aspera's Connect Server for web-based file transfers was selected following a competitive pitch ad three-month trial run of competing acceleration technologies. Ben Smith, CTO of ChilliBean, said: "We needed a totally reliable product that would get the files uploaded and transported quickly and securely around the globe and a partner that would fit with our culture - and in that sense Aspera was the obvious choice."
Working with 30GB size files and countries as far afield as Singapore and New Zealand, ChilliBean needed an end-to-end secure and fast delivery solution to transfer the files over long distances. Smith said: "Where it could previously take up to four days to upload, transfer and then download a file over FTP or HTTP, with Aspera, it now takes only three hours.
"They've risen to the challenge and provided us with a next-generation solution that enables anybody anywhere, with the appropriate ChilliBean authorisation, to pick up files and transmit them. Implementation into the ChilliBean core technology took two months and now we can't imagine life without Aspera."
Plans are also in place to make Aspera ChilliBean's upload and transfer solution of choice for the annual D&AD Awards. This involves transferring tens of thousands of items in the run-up to and during the award period.
Smith concluded: "We want to see the partnership evolve and introduce our agency clients to Aspera's Connect Server technology. All it requires is an existing internet delivery and there's no need for additional investment. The advantages to be had in terms of speed, costs and security are second-to-none."
