Grant Broadcaster Chooses Tieline Throughout Its Australian Regional Network

One of Australia's leading regional radio networks, Grant Broadcasters, has selected Tieline Technology to supply 42 IP audio codecs to its network of radio stations for both studio-to-transmitter links (STLs) and remote outside broadcasts.
John Sandles, Group Engineering Manager for Grant Broadcasters, said: "The combination of Tieline's inbuilt automatic packet loss and jitter management, combined with local Australian engineering support, provides us with an audio over IP platform that is well supported and highly reliable - even in rugged and hostile locations."
Grant Broadcasters has purchased a number of 1RU and 2RU rack mount Commander G3 IP codecs as IP studio-to-transmitter links due to the impeding shutdown of the analogue leased line network in Australia. Tieline Commander G3 field unit IP codecs will be used to send high quality outside broadcast audio from remote locations to the studio.
Charlie Gawley, Tieline's Australasian Business Development Executive, said: "Grant Broadcasters has made a significant investment in Tieline IP codecs to upgrade their networks.
"They are very happy with the audio quality over IP around their network and Tieline's QoS Performance Engine technology provides high levels of redundancy over IP. The company has also programmed connections to failover to POTS/PSTN to ensure their network stays on the air at all times."
All Tieline codecs are capable of connecting over IP, 3GIP, POTS/PSTN, ISDN, x.21, GSM and satellite (IP and ISDN) networks using interchangeable plug-in modules for different connection transports. Broadcasters can use any combination of these modules for their primary and failover connections.
"This flexibility also allows broadcasters to take advantage of existing broadcast infrastructure and transition into newer technologies like IP and satellite (IP and ISDN) as they become available.
The BGAN satellite footprint recently expanded to cover the east coast of Australian and a large part of the Pacific region, providing new opportunities to use Tieline's fully satellite-compatible codecs from anywhere a signal can be found.
Tieline codecs featuring IP, 3GIP and SIP interoperability can be ordered for demonstration at any Tieline International office in the US, Netherlands and Australia or from any listed Tieline dealer at: www.tieline.com.
