NIFTC announce £600,000 in Lottery Film Awards
Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission Richard Taylor has announced that in the first five months since the NIFTC was delegated responsibility for Lottery Film Funding by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the NIFTC has awarded over £600,000 to film projects.
These awards include projects that applied to Arts Council of Northern Ireland prior to April 2002, although decisions have been taken by the NIFTC.
These projects include feature films, short films, script developments and distribution and promotion awards. Full details of these awards are available on the NIFTC’s website at www.niftc.co.uk
Three short films have gone into production during the summer: 'The Wayfarer', a short film by Fillum Ltd. Belfast, for BBC NI’s Northern Lights scheme; 'Suffering', a short film by Straight Fact Productions, Holywood, for BBC NI’s Northern Lights scheme; and 'Tied Up With String', a short film by Beragh Care and Development Association. These films will be delivered in the Autumn.
The producer of 'Suffering', Tony Rowe said “It’s great to have a source of creative finance that can help films like these come to the screen, I can’t praise too highly the work put in by the NIFTC to process all the paperwork and then deliver the money so quickly and efficiently!”
