BECTU Masterclass 'Faces' Skills

Union members of BECTU who work in hair and make-up have benefited from a professional masterclass.
Stage Effects: make-up with drama was held at the London Palladium earlier this month and was hosted by BECTU and M.A.C Pro Cosmetics.
It was open to hair and make-up members in theatre, film and TV.
M.A.C Pro trainer, Dean Rudd, showcased the company's latest products using expert techniques in a demonstration of two theatrical looks, one of which was a Wicked - style witch.
The demonstration was followed by questions, photos, networking and refreshments.
The specialist trainer was complimented on "very good detail, pace, delivery" and for providing a "wonderful description of each stage of application" and was praised for the approachability of M.A.C team.
BECTU said that future workshops could include make-up and hair for HD, airbrushing, special effects and period make-up.
BECTU will be liaising with M.A.C and the Hair & Make up branch with a view to running a second masterclass later in the year.
Commenting on the afternooon, Kate Elliott, a national official, said: "This was a classic BECTU learning event with new skills learned, good networking and a great atmosphere."
Already, members in hair and make-up form a supportive and pro-active network.
They meet regularly to advance better pay, working conditions and opportunities within the industry.
