Commercials rates issued by BECTU
Freelance rates have recently been issued by BECTU following the collapse of the Advertising Producers Association (APA) agreement.
This move follows a ballot earlier this year of freelance members working on cinema and TV commercials which overwhelmingly rejected proposals from the APA for a new agreement with reduced terms and conditions.
BECTU say the new rates cover the grades previously detailed in the APA agreement, and are based on the expired agreement.
The union regularly circulates information to freelance members who have identified themselves as working on commercials, with updates on the latest trends, and details of companies who are and those who are not paying a union rate.
BECTU members wishing to join the circulation list should email: [email protected] and your include name, membership number, and contact details (either postal address or email).
At the end of July BECTU members rejected proposals from the APA for a drastic reduction in their terms and conditions of employment.
The vote meant that for the first time in several years there was no national agreement covering the engagement of freelance film technicians and others making cinema and TV commercials.
