BBC Director Of London 2012 To Attend IBC2009
A British broadcasting executive who has served as Head of BBC Television News and now BBC's Director of London 2012, Roger Mosey will be delivering a keynote presentation at the IBC Conference: 'Evolution of Sports Broadcasting: The Total Audience Experience'.
As the newly appointed BBC Director of London 2012, Roger is responsible for planning coverage of the Olympics across all genres and platforms, which also includes the Cultural Olympiad, major events in the build-up to the Games; and co-ordinating the BBC's activities locally, nationally and globally. With over 25 years in the broadcasting field, Roger will share his experiences and thoughts in his keynote: 'The 2012 Olympics: Delivering an unforgettable sporting and cultural experience for audiences'.
Roger said: "London 2012 could be the first truly Digital Games. At the BBC, our aim is to bring every sport live to our viewers when they want it, where they want it, on one of our platforms, whether it's TV, Radio, Online or Mobile.
"Our audience will be able to personalise their Olympic experience as never before. Don't count traditional media out - 42 million UK viewers watched the 2008 Games on traditional mainstream TV.
"But could 2012 be to Digital in the UK what Queen Elizabeth the Second's Coronation was to TV and be the catalyst for a real step change in how audiences consume content?"
Roger's previous roles have included; editor of Today on BBC Radio 4, controller of BBC Radio 5 Live, head of BBC Television News; and most recently Director of Sport. Under Roger's editorship, Today won Sony Gold Awards in 1994 and 1995, a British Environment & Media Awards, which was also named Radio Programme of the Year by the Broadcasting Press Guild in 1995.
Radio 5 Live was awarded the Sony National Radio Station of the Year 1998, BBC Television News won Programme of the Year for Newsnight (2002) and the Ten O'Clock News (2004) at the Royal Television Society awards for journalism. The Ten O'Clock News also received Bafta awards in both 2004 and 2005.
Roger Mosey will be attending the IBC2009 conference, which will be held on September 10 at 10:30am.
