Powerful Independent Films Shine At Tribeca Film Festival 2009

IndiePix, the internet-based distributor of independent films, has announced that its first two Release Slate productions - P-Star Rising and Entre Nos - received outstanding support at their world premieres at Tribeca 2009.
Over 5,000 film fans turned out to watch P-Star Rising at the Drive-In and Entre Nos, one of the most attended films throughout the whole festival, has since been given an Honourable Mention for New York Narrative Feature.
Tribeca had around 1,800 films considered for its festival yet only 120 were selected. Over two thirds of these chosen productions were full length films - 60-90 minutes long - and two of them were IndiePix's Entre Nos and P-Star Rising.
As Executive Producer, IndiePix Studios has supported both productions because of their powerful, reality-based story telling and talented, experienced production teams. To date, Indiepix Studios has invested directly, secured additional financing and organised premieres at the leading New York festival for both films, to ensure the platforms for their coming general releases, domestically and internationally. in addition, IndiePix recently partnered with Lucky Hat Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company, to provide essential finishing funds for both films.
The success of the world premiere presentations of IndiePix Studios' two new films at the Tribeca Film Festival highlights IndiePix's firm commitment to breaking down the barriers that separate artists and audiences.
Bob Alexander, President of IndiePix, said: "With our production technologies, secure funding and internet-based distribution techniques we work to bring important voice to thousands. Whether it's at a huge outdoor event, such as Tribeca, or on screens in homes around the world, independent films are now getting the acknowledgement they deserve."
Ryan Harrington, Head of IndiePix Studios, said: "IndiePix is so pleased to have been able to help these fantastic films get to where they are today. to have five thousand people turn up for a single screening is incredible and really was one of the highlights of the festival for us - it created such a great atmosphere.
"The recognition both films received from those within the industry is over-whelming and everything we could have hoped for. Acknowledgements like the 'Honourable Mention' for New York Narrative Feature are what IndiePix strives to help its filmmakers achieve and I couldn't be happier about this."
P-Star Rising is a non-fiction film about a single father who is determined that his nine-year-old daughter will become a rap star and redeem his own deferred dream. Priscilla Star Diaz, age 15, is today a lead actress on the acclaimed PBS television show The Electric Company and an accomplished and rising performer of popular urban music in the United States, Latin America, Japan and other countries around the world. Directed and produced by Gabriel Noble and produced by Marjan Tehrani, this film has been in production for nearly five years.
Entre Nos, written and directed by Paola Mendoza and Gloria LaMorte, is an international co-production with the Film fund of the government of Colombia. Ms Mendoza starred in the Sundance, Grand Jury Prize winning film, Sangre de mi Sangre and in the gritty urban tale On The Outs, winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Slamdance and the Jury Special Prize at Deauville, France.
Entre Nos inspired by a true story, follows Mariana and her two young children in their first few months in Queens, New York, as they fiercely carve a space for themselves in the aggressively indifferent streets of the big city. Michael Skolnik and Joseph La Morte and the producers.
