GFM Introduces GF-Primo And GF-Secondo

Grip Factory Munich introduces the GF-Primo and GF-Secondo Dollies, the latest in electromechanical dolly technology.
As the deluxe model, the new GF-Primo Dolly provides a "one touch" central gearbox for selecting front, rear and crab steering.
Wireless radio control is a standard feature for vertical column movement as well as secondary cable control. The new, patented electromechanical column is low in maintenance, providing a quiet, smooth movement to lift camera and two operators. A new registered for patent, turnstile mount and a new dolly platform system open up new possibilities for camera rigging and movement.
The state-of-the-art digital electronics and hand control system was designed by CMotion who were chosen as a partner because of their experience and expertise in electronic design. Their insight into the end-users needs as well as their concept of design match perfectly with GFM's mechanical ingenuity and work philosophy.
The GF-Secondo Dolly is effectively the more economical of the two but with an eye to the future, it is possible to upgrade the GF-Secondo to a GF-Primo. The main differences between the two systems are:
  • The GF-Primo has a fifth central steering position
  • The GF-Primo has a "one-touch" central gearbox for selecting either front, rear or crab steering
  • The GF-Primo comes with both wireless radio control and cable control as a standard
With both units all the essential data is displayed on the hand control's screen. The operator can monitor battery consumption and status, column limits and markers, motor temperatures etc.
Position markers are easily set to repeat shots and to edit the positions is simple and uncomplicated. The hand controls ergonomic design is distinctive and lies easy in the operator's hand, providing complete operational comfort.
Further features are:
  • Both the GF-Primo and GF-Secondo columns are rotatable and can also be separated from the base dolly.
  • Starting position on the column is a low 70cm/27" with a lift range of 70cm/27" extending to a maximum height of 140cm/54" in a fast, 2.5 seconds.
  • The battery connection is a "drop and go" system where the batteries are simply slotted into position, secured and ready to go.
  • The turnstile mount accepts four adapters to provide a wider range of seating and camera positions e.g. two persons, two cameras.
  • The stable, multi-functional platform set is machined to provide a selection of holes for mounting various adapters such as lighting stands, monitor holders, seat arm extensions etc. as well as providing a solid base for the operators to stand on.
  • The telescopic and inclining steering rod provides increased maneuvreability and control of dolly moves.
  • The GF-Primo has a fifth steering and pushing position. Steering mode selection is a simple matter of twisting a switch.
  • Constructed of the highest quality CNC machined parts with hard coated finish.
Field testing is completed and the dollies have worked on a number of productions in Germany. Delivery of the second series is already underway.
