Welsh students respond to Ffresh chance
The Ffresh festival, a showcase for moving image students in Wales, is reportedly on course to become an overwhelming success.
Sgrîn, its organisers, have received over 140 submissions from moving image students throughout Wales, and they rate the quality of entries as "exceptionally high".
A panel of judges, who have been charged with viewing the 16 hours of footage, will reveal their favourites during the festival, which is to be held at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on October 10-12.
Ceri Sherlock, Chair of the Ffresh Committee, said: “We are very excited about the number of entries we have received. As this is the first year of the festival, it was going to be a challenge to attract attention and make sure people got involved – but it’s great to see that Wales’ moving image students are as eager as we are to celebrate the best of their work and discover the talent of the future.”
The Ffresh festival is designed to help Welsh students develop their entrepreneurial skills and learn more about the moving image industries through career sessions, workshops and speeches.
Rhian Iolo, Exhibition Manager at Sgrîn, commented: “The programme is geared to cover both the cultural and practical elements of the moving image industry.
“Not only will the Festival be an invaluable forum for students to gain practical experience and skills, it will also benefit the industry by establishing effective channels of communication. This will enable both parties to share ideas, information and to enhance creativity.”
