Simon Jordan's Aspiration Films Partners With Fortissimo On 'Telstar'
Simon Jordan's Aspiration Films has confirmed that Fortissimo Film will handle worldwide sales for Nick Moran's directorial feature film debut 'Telstar'.
Sales activities for the film will get underway at the upcoming AFM in November, while the film's world premiere will take place at The Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival at 9pm on Saturday October 25.
Directed by Nick Moran and financed and produced by Simon Jordan, 'Telstar' is an Aspiration Films production starring Con O'Neill as the legendary independent record producer Joe Meek, together with a stellar line-up of supporting cast, including Kevin Spacey, Pam Ferris and James Corden, together with cameos by Justin Hawkins (The Darkness) and Carl Barat (Dirty Pretty Things, The Libertines).
The stranger-than-fiction true story of the rise and fall of a great British pop pioneer and innovative musical genius is a satirical and often comic drama revealing the many sides of Joe Meek.
Set in the London music scene of the early 1960s, this unique and compelling story follows Meek who began his career with a bang, producing 'Telstar' the first British song to get to Number One in the US, making the hit the biggest-selling record of its time. From an apartment on the Holloway Road, Meek went on to create the strange and wonderful recordings that have made him an iconic figure in the world of British pop.
Producer Simon Jordan commented: "'Telstar' is a uniquely British film, from the subject matter and production point of view. Nick and I were looking for a sales agent that had the market expertise and relationships with buyers to be able to deliver this exciting British success story to international distributors. Nicole Mackey and her team at Fortissimo have an outstanding reputation and exceptional expertise in handling both UK and international distribution and we're delighted to be working with them."
Fortissimo Films Nicole Mackey added: "Fortissimo is thrilled to be handling international sales on this energy-packed movies which is a brilliant directorial debut from Nick Moran. He and the actors deliver their all! We are also very happy to be in business with Simon Jordan."
