Increased Attendance For British Films

The UK’s largest cinema chain has revealed that more cinemagoers bought tickets for British films last year compared with 2010.
According to Odeon UK productions accounted for £295m at the box office and almost one-third of all ticket sales with a reported 270,000 people buying tickets for British films.
The cinema chain said they credit the increase to films such as The Kings Speech, The Inbetweeners Movie and the latest instalment of the Harry Potter saga. However they also claim that the Backing British Film campaign, which saw cinemagoers who attended British films being rewarded with free popcorn and cinema tickets, helped to boost interest in British film.
Odeon estimates that the scheme brought in an extra £2.2m for British films.
