Free film training begins again in Ayrshire

Budding Ayrshire filmmakers will once more be given an insight into the world of movie magic in the sequel to the blockbusting 'From Script to Screen' workshops.
Scottish Enterprise Ayrshire have teamed up with James Watt College and Ayrshire Film Focus in the wake of the successful first series of workshops, held in June 2002. The latest series will take place from October 14-18 2002 at the College's North Ayrshire campus in Kilwinning, and is designed to provide a practical tool-kit for filmmaking.
Led by producer and director Becky Knapp of leading film company Synergen SMK, participants will be able to listen to and question experts from the industry and gain first-hand knowledge on how to make headway in what is an extremely competitive business. An array of guest speakers will be on-hand to speak to delegates on a range of issues, with a focus on such jobs as production design, costume design, makeup artists, camera operators, sound operators and post production. There will be three students for each production area: directing, writing, producing, camera, sound, post production/editing, production design and make-up/costume design.
Industry professionals from each department will be giving lectures and individual tutorials. A short film will be made as part of the course for the students to put their skills to the test. The previous course was fully booked.
