SGL Significantly Improves Archive Workflows With FlashBrowse
Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, will demonstrate FlashBrowse at IBC2008 on Stand 8.B20e.
FlashBrowse, a new Enterprise archive viewing tool, significantly improves workflows for broadcasters by enabling browse copies of archive material to be externally stored and accessed prior to retrieval.
Making its European debut, FlashBrowse delivers a fast, cost-effective solution for all archive systems including post production facilities and broadcasters. Providing an interface, independent of the control system, which allows material to be searched and viewed and then automatically restored back into the Online media network, FlashBrowse is fully compliant with most production and transmission environments including Avid.
FlashBrowse features a low-res proxy creation engine that automatically generates preview resolution clips of material as it is archived; clip size, resolution and storage location is completely customisable by the user, which affords customers substantial savings over other proprietary systems that use expensive, 'own-brand' disk storage.
Once archived, the low-res versions of clips can be searched, browsed and previewed using the integrated media player, allowing editors and archivists to effectively and efficiently search for clips, and confirm material identity prior to restore.
Data is restored quickly and easily directly from the browse window. FlashBrowse also provides a fully-functional FlashNet archive client, which is completely integrated with the FlashNet SQL database and allows users to browse video server content, search for clips already withtin the archive and to instigate archive operations in a simple and concise drag and drop interface, from anywhere on the network, in any department.
Bernie Walsh, SGL's Joint Managing Director, commented: "The SGL philosophy is to demonstrate clear business benefits, easy integration, system expansion and low cost of ownership.
"The product portfolio, which is driven by FlashNet, the company's content storage and archive management software, delivers on each of these points, providing broadcasters with integration, scalability and high levels of redundancy."
