SGL Demonstrates Strong Technology And Business Benefits With Flashbox

Software Generation Ltd (SGL), a leading provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, is demonstrating Flashbox at IBC2008 on Stand 8.B20e.
This latest addition to the SGL storage portfolio further highlights the company's commitment to universal broadcasters and the archive community.
Based on SGL's FlashNet content archive and storage management software, and best of breed hardware, Flashbox provides a number of technology and business benefits including, scalable disk and tape storage, which starts with a 4TB disk archive, a single LT04 tape drive and 10 x 800GB tape slots, providing 12TB/1,000 hours of DV25 entry-level storage.
Visitors to SGL's stand at IBC will witness how integration, strong business benefits, system expansion and low cost of ownership are key to the SGL philosophy.
FlashBox will interface to all current SGL certified control system including the Avid Interplay non-linear workflow engine and the Pro-Bel Morpheus automation and media management system.
SGL, still the only integrated archive solution currently sold by Avid for Interplay, will have a fully functional, fully integrated Avid Interplay on its stand, which will be demonstrated by first-class demo artists.
FlashBox will assist a number of customers with archive requirements where a conventional infrastructure is cost prohibitive, these include post production facilities, regional broadcasters and individual broadcast departments such as news or sports. FlashBox ships with ALL hardware, software, installation, training and 12 months standard support.
FlashBox includes a number of features such as:
  • All-in-one entry-level, scalable archive solution
  • Evolution of storage and control to meet customer business requirements
  • Based on SGL's reliable content archive and storage management software
  • Compact 7RU system with capacity to expand to 56TB/4,750 hours of DV25 storage
  • Additional features include tape externalisation, partial restore supported by the control system as standard
