Leitch adds in SGL archive management software

Leitch Technology Corporation, who are currently exhibiting at NAB, has announced it has entered into an agreement with Software Generation, Ltd., (SGL) to resell SGL's FlashNet archive management software in conjunction with its new BitStore ™ Serial ATA disk-based archive system.
Integrated with Leitch's BitStore NLS Series, SGL's FlashNet software expands compatibility to the full line of Leitch VRnet(tm) servers.
"The level of reliability, simplicity and flexibility offered by this total solution translates to high-quality video and improved overall efficiency for our clients," said Carsten Baumann, director of product management for Leitch.
"By integrating SGL's FlashNet software into our server product line and pairing it with BitStore and VRMediaNet ™, we are able to provide our customers with virtually on-demand random access to very large, high-resolution video files at a total-solution cost close to that of many tape-based solutions," he said.
Archiving in the video production environment traditionally required the elimination of vital metadata and restricted the editor's options when the re-encoding of materials was required. SGL's FlashNet archive management software manages the flow between the video server and the library, providing direct-to-archive, drag-and-drop file export and allowing files to be quickly and easily searched and retrieved at the discretion of the video professional.
Bernie Walsh, director of marketing and sales for SGL added: "Leitch has built its reputation supplying the broadcast and video marketplace with the highest-quality products and support."
"FlashNet is a reliable, cost-effective archive management solution ideally suited to the requirements of the video production industry. We feel that working with Leitch has resulted in the calibre of solution required by today's video professionals."
Paired with Leitch video servers and SGL's FlashNet, BitStore will be fully equipped to address every aspect of the professional video production process. The system can be used in a standalone VR environment, as well as with any of the major automation systems.
Leitch is currently exhibiting at booth SU4525 at NAB 2003.
