SVT Outfits Studios With EVS Production Equipment

Swedish Television (SVT) has opted to outfit its regional studio facilities in Malmö with EVS production equipment for multi-camera production and studio playout.
SVT Malmö produces regional news and programmes, including the famous late-night talk show Robins, hosted by the young stand-up comedian Robin Paulsson.
Johnny Persson, Technical Manager at SVT Malmö, said: "Using EVS production tools in our studios gives us unmatched flexibility in our productions. We are now able to manage live to tape with ISO + director's cut recording on the XT(2) with real-time transfer to our Avid Interplay.
Craft editors can already start to edit while files are still being transferred. Based on this new production architecture, rough cut editing can be directly performed on the XT(2) server when the programme requires lots of retakes and only the good sequences are sent to Avid. In a live production environemnt, EVS' XT(2) offers the most reactive solution for playout."
The set-up, consisting of a 4CH HD-Ready XT(2), IPDirector production tools, and XStore(2), will be integrated with SVT's Avid Interplay craft editing environment. All ISO recording and studio playout will be managed by the XT(2) server, controlled by the IPDirector Interface. Julien Fraipoint, Area Sales Manager Scandinavia for EVS, said: "SVT Stockholm has already been using the XT(2) server and XF(2) removable storage system for their studio production, so it made perfect sense for their studio project in Malmö to choose EVS tapeless technology."
The set-up will, in a latter stage, also be connected to META, Swedish Television's MAM (Ardendo) in Stockholm. With this connection in place, rushes or edited programmes will easily be transferred to Stockholm and referenced in META MAM through the fibre channel network interconnecting all regional stations to SVT's headquarters in Stockholm.
