On-Air's playKast 4.13 For IBC 2008
A leading developer of automated playout systems for the broadcast industry, On-Air Systems, will be launching and shipping the new version of its playKast channel in a box system at IBC 2008.
The new version, playKast 4.13, will include features such as event refresh and comprehensive log analysis without the need for third party tools.
It is said to bring even greater functionality to broadcasters looking to get on air quickly and cost effectively, all from a single system.
As the original channel in a box solution, On-Air Systems' playKast was the first playout solution to provide broadcast quality playout from a single PC system without needing any additional equipment, and has built an unrivalled array of features in the last two years.
"We've included a whole host of customer-requested features in the new version of playKast to ensure it continues to be the playout product of choice for broadcasters looking for a channel in a box solution," said Mark Errington, Chief Executive Officer of On-Air Systems.
He said that the new features in playKast 4.13 include: up to four audio layers - including two non-recorded layers - for specialised recording of live events; a new importer and log processing system that interface with the scheduling system to give visibility of the entire output without the need for a third party log analysis tool; live events as well as file-based feeds for picture-in-picture playout; a plug-in for music clip subtitling and timed metadata display and the option to refresh an event during playout allowing dynamic changes to all secondary events, such as graphics, sub-titles, audio and triggers.
On-Air Systems is a leading international supplier of computer-based broadcast automation solutions and delivery services for all types of television channels. With over a decade's experience in the development of playout systems, it has an unrivalled knowledge and understanding of a channel's needs.
