Mainframe Rebrands Official Chart Shows For MTV

Mainframe, an independent studio specialising in motion graphics, animation and vfx for commercials, branded content, promos and titles, has designed graphics packages for MTV's new ownership of the official UK chart shows.
The project was a huge motion graphics undertaking for the boutique studio, with six separate packages being created from scratch in just three weeks.
MTV's brief was to create a fresh new look to move the chart concept forward in line with MTV's younger, more dynamic and edgier values. Mainframe created individual packages for the Official UK Top 40, the Official UK Top 20, the Official R&B Singles Chart: Top 20, the Official Download Singles Chart: Top 20, the Official Album Chart and the Official Rewind Chart. Each sequence had to have its own identity, as determined by its music genre, whilst creating an overriding unified style for the entire set. The individual sequences were differentiated through colour palettes and logos.
Mainframe's owner and MD Adam Jenns said: "This is a flagship project for MTV as they've only just secured the rights to the official UK charts and they'll be running them across their most high profile properties, everything from MTV One through to TMF, The Hits and VH1. That's a lot of programming. We're obviously very pleased they entrusted us with such an important brief. We've even more pleased we managed to turn it round in such a short space of time!"
