C4i Gets On Screen Throughout Asia
Leading distributor C4i, part of the Digital Rights Group, has signed a raft of deals with broadcasters in Asian territories, Christina Willoughby, Managing Director, has announced.
The sales, brokered by Nicola Richards, Programme Sales Executive, will see more than 120 hours of programming, from a wide variety of genres, set for broadcast throughout Asia . Richards commented: "This is a substantial number of acquisitions, for both new and catalogue C4i titles and with new and existing clients. The volume of hours acquired and the variety of titles is a fantastic indication of the strong ongoing international appeal of our programming."
Deals include the acquisition of series one to five of the critically acclaimed and award-winning situation comedy 'Peep Show' by Fox International Channel's South East Asian channel, FX. 'Peep Show', following flatmates Jeremy (Robert Webb) and Mark (David Mitchell) as they strive to cope with every day life, recently picked up Best Situation Comedy at the 2008 BAFTA Television Awards.
AETN All Asia Networks has signed for a package of true life stories for broadcast on its Crime & Investigation Network, including 'The Girl In A Box', a shocking tale of abduction from Gecko Productions and 'The Fake Trade', travelling from London and LA to Southern China and Nigeria to reveal the story of how counterfeiting has become the fastest rising crime of our times.
EBS in South Korea and Public TV Service Foundation (PTS) in Taiwan have acquired 'Undercover in Tibet', from True Vision which sees Tibetan exile Tash return to the homeland he risked his life to escape from to spend three months filming undercover with award-winning, BAFTA nominated director Jezza Neumann ('China's Stolen Children') uncovering the shocking reality of life under Chinese occupation. PTS is also set to screen another extraordinary investigation from True Vision (for Channel 4 and HBO) - 'China's Stolen Children' which sees the team behind the Emmy Award-winning 'The Dying Rooms' return to a very different China, where the infamous One Child Policy has created the horrific side-effect of a boom in stolen children.
More than 60 hours of programming has been picked up by True Visions for its branded channels in Thailand. The deal includes the ever-popular archaeology show Time Team; 'How Young Can I Get'; 'Newlywed, Nearly Dead?' and 'Medicine Men Go Wild'.
The Asian Food Channel has bought a package of titles including two shows from Keo Films which will see Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall displaying his commitment to seasonal, ethically produced food to viewers in Asia. 'Hugh’s Chicken Run', follows the launch of his ground-breaking free-range campaign and 'River Cottage Treatment' tasks Hugh with persuading a group of junk-food addicts to ditch the takeaways and microwave meals and start cooking delicious, wholesome, seasonal meals from scratch.
Astro in Malaysia has acquired two unique feature length documentaries from Pioneer Productions - 'The Living Body' and 'Animals in the Womb' - as well as the International Emmy award-winning 'Brat Camp', presenting zero tolerance in the face of youthful bad behaviour.
