Global Film Industry To Benefit From International Audit Partnerships

Member firms of HLB International (HLBI), a worldwide network of independent professional accounting firms and business advisers, are sharing their expertise in the film industry to build a successful sector specific global partnership that will facilitate the international auditing of film accounts.
Steven Sills, Partner at Stills & Gentille, a division of Green Hasson & Janks LLP, arrived in London from Los Angeles on June 23 to share his experience of the film audit industry in a seminar hosted by Vantis' Media Group - an accounting, tax and business advisory group that specialises in helping growing businesses. The seminar was attended by HLBI member firms from across Europe.
Sills, who has represented talent in the movie industry for the past twenty years and audited more than 80 of the top 100 grossing films of all time, believes developing strong global partnerships will make it easier to audit films in foreign markets.
He explained: "Last October, Sills & Gentille joined with Green Hasson & Janks who have long had an affiliation with HLB International, as has Vantis. A large portion of motion picture revenue is now being generated in foreign markets and with HLBI affiliated firms worldwide, trained personnel will be able to carry out film audits with long-distance supervision from us if necessary."
The event is one of the first HLBI events to be hosted in London and Sarf Malik, Partner, Vantis' Group, believes the seminar is essential for European firms to develop knowledge and expertise in the film industry. Malik explained: "To have our international media colleagues present in London with us is very exciting. What we have learnt from the seminar will allow us to work with greater confidence, which will come from a clearer understanding of the film industry."
Sills continues: "The content of the seminar is also easily transferable to the national film distribution industry. Vantis can apply this knowledge to its film production clients in the UK who will benefit from our longstanding experience and the lessons we have shared."
The first of the international audits is expected to happen before the end of the year. Sills concludes: "International relationships are extremely important today, especially in the film industry. This meeting with Vantis was the ideal opportunity to build a relationship with the Media Group and I look forward to sharing our mutual knowledge and experiences in the future."
