Avocent Introduces New Wireless Distribution Product

Avocent Corporation, a company which delivers IT infrastructure management solutions, has introduced a new model of the Emerge MPX extender, the MPX1500T high-definition (HD) multipoint extender transmitter, which wirelessly distributes HD content from a source to multiple destinations.
Avocent's wireless HD video distribution system is changing the way digital signage systems are being deployed. In the rapidly growing digital signage market, speed of network deployment has been a key advantage for many strategic partners. Avocent's MPX system improves the value proposition for both the end-user and the integrator. For the end-user, wireless digital signage minimises business disruption by not requiring new wiring and minimising installation time. For the integrator, wireless video distribution allows a turnkey system to be developed, pre-staged and then dropped into place at the customer's site.
Emerge MPX extenders can be deployed for a variety of professional video applications, such as digital signage - providing panels with live content, entertainment and advertising in retail outlets, theatres, restaurants, airports, gas stations and other venues. The MPX1500T transmitter has added new functionality for centrally managing the MPX extender and attached devices over the internet, such as turning displays on or off.
The AV infrastructure created by the MPX extenders can be centrally accessed and controlled through a web management interface.
This latest version of the MOX extender expands the status information available, enabling not only general troubleshooting of connections, but more specific details to ensure uptime and reliability. AV and IT managers can now connect to each individual transmitter and receiver to reboot, update, adjust the luminance and chrominance, change the frequency the radio transmits, and various other tuning parametres. For a widely dispersed digital signage network, this minimises the need to send technical staff onsite for troubleshooting and maintenance.
The MPX1500T transmitter has a universal media port based upon a digital video interface (DVI) connector. Supporting both digital and analogue video signals allows the MPX to use DVI, HDMI or VGA signals.
The product can even perform a VGA to DVI conversion if your source is a computer and your display needs to be digital. The MPX system works like a video splitter and a video extender by wirelessly delivering audio and video to multiple displays up to 1,000 feet away. The new MPX extender is dramatically smaller than the previous version allowing for more flexible and convenient mounting options.
Mitch Friend, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Avocent, said: "When it comes to wireless HD video distribution, Avocent leads the industry. With the introduction of the new MPX1500T, we've added a number of features to make it easier for integrators to use and centrally manage highly distributed systems without leaving their desk."
Demonstrations of Avocent's new MPX1500T transmitter will take place at the InfoComm 2008 tradeshow, Avocent Stand number N6925 in Las Vegas, Nevada, from June 18 to 20.
