Welsh film 'Soul Crew' gets go ahead

Sgrîn have revealed that the film 'Soul Crew', developed by 4 Way Wales, will receive £20,000 in development funds from the Welsh Lottery.
The Soul Crew, originally written by Welshmen Tony Rivers and David James and they will be involved as story consultants on the script, which is being developed by Irvine Welsh and David Cavanagh. Peter Edwards of HTV is to produce, and the film will be shot in Wales with a predominantly Welsh cast and crew.
“This project is being developed by a company with access to some of the best writing, directing and acting talent in the UK,” said Judith Higginbottom, Head of Production at Sgrîn. “It will offer a range of roles for Welsh actors and provide opportunities to overturn stereotypes and tell a very different and contemporary kind of Welsh story. It has the potential to be a very successful film.”
