Sgrîn showcase at international short film festival

Sgrîn are to travel to Clermont-Ferrand in France for what is regarded as the foremost international film festival for short films.
This year the agency will be showcasing short films from the Screen Gems collection at a theatre during the festival, and hope that the French premiere of the films will attract attention from International Festival programmers and sales agents.
The track record for the Screen Gems films has been a glowing one – with films from the first and second schemes achieving fame around the world. Many will remember the sight of the naked men gleefully parading through a South Wales estate in A Heap of Trouble. The film caused quite a stir, especially in New York where the film was used in a promotional campaign banned by the New York Postal Office.
“As well as placing the new directors that take part in the scheme on an equal footing with the emerging talent from other UK countries, the schemes are a fantastic way of promoting Wales to the World, opening doors for the producers and crew and encouraging new partnerships between ourselves and other agencies,” said Gwion ap Rhisiart, International Marketing Manager at Sgrîn Cymru Wales. “We are looking forward to introducing the new shorts to the International market and hope to return to Wales with new contacts, contracts and International screenings arranged for the 23 new films.”
