Avid's Beatriz Alonso-Martinez Wins Blackberry Women & Technology Award 2008

Avid Technology, a leading provider of tools for film, video, audio, 3D animation, gaming and broadcast professionals, have announced that Beatriz Alonso-Martinez, a key member of Avid Europe's Professional Services Group, has won the award for the Best Use of Technology Within The Multimedia Industry By A Woman at the Blackberry Women & Technology Awards 2008.
The awards, held at the Grosvenor Hotel on May 6, honour the achievements of women both within and beyond the IT sector. They aim to celebrate these women's successes, as well as inspire other women by showcasing their stories.
Alonso-Martinez beat three other talented finalists to win the award, following a rigorous entry process, which included a face-to-face interview with a high profile judging panel to express her passion and integrity towards her job and industry.
Charmaine Eggberry, Vice President and Managing Director, EMEA, at Research in Motion, commented: "Once again, I am astounded by the high level of talent we have witnessed in this year's entrants. Each year, our winners go on to become fantastic role models and champions of our industry. As role models they serve the invaluable purpose of highlighting the exciting opportunities and challenges our sector can offer. All of our winners are a shining example to those that will follow them and we are delighted to recognise their phenomenal achievements through the BlackBerry Women & Technology Awards."
Beatriz Alonso-Martinez commented: "I am delighted to have received this prestigious award and to have helped raise awareness of women's achievements within such a male-dominated industry. I thoroughly enjoy my job and through winning this award I hope to share my passion and enthusiasm for the multimedia industry with other women out there who are interested in pursuing a similar career."
Avid's Professional Services Group is a cross-functional team that aims to help customers improve the efficiency and speed of their production cycle. The team offers a comprehensive portfolio of services, including pre-sales support, consulting, installation and training and works closely with creative teams and production staff to examine their previous working methods and to design and successfully implement new working procedures. Thanks to the work of the Avid Professional Services consultants, many broadcasters and post-production houses around EMEA are now able to produce more content and more efficiently re-deploy their media to multiple platforms such as mobile, web and traditional broadcast.
Now in their third year, the BlackBerry Women & Technology Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of women using technology, both within and beyond the IT sector. Further information is available at: www.blackberrywomentechnologyawards.com.
