Granada International Announce Deal With Chunghwa Telecom

Leading content provider Granada International, part of the UK's largest commercial broadcaster ITV plc, has sold more than 300 hours of high-definition programming to Chunghwa Telecom in Taiwan. The programming will be available through the company's Multimedia On-Demand (MOD) IPTV-VOD service.
Titles included in the extensive deal include recently launched dramas 'My Boy Jack', 'Murdoch Mysteries', 'Durham County' and 'Ballet Shoes'; multiple series of factual hits 'Planet Science' and 'Brainiac'; a number of Hollywood TV movies and three series of Agatha Christie's Poirot', as well as feature films such as 'The Fabulous Baker Boys' and 'Bugsy Malone'.
Chunghwa Telecom is the leading telecom service provider in Taiwan. The company provides fixed line services, mobile services and internet and data services to residential and business customers in Taiwan. The new Multimedia On-Demand service is provided through IPTV and is currently available to almost 450,000 subscribers.
Chao Min, Director of Digital Content Development Department at Chunghwa Telecom commented: "Granada International’s programming is so diverse and has strong appeal across all age groups. We are sure that their high definition programming will appeal to our many subscribers throughout Taiwan.”
James Ross, Granada International’s Hong Kong based Regional Director, added: "We are very pleased to be working with Chunghwa Telecom which has acquired a significant number of our high quality high definition shows for its “MOD” service. Our wide-ranging content is always in demand and this is one of many similar deals that we will conclude with platform providers in the region in the coming months.”
The partnership with Chunghwa Telecom is the latest in a series of deals designed to derive new digital revenues from the extensive ITV Worldwide programming portfolio and maximise the global exploitation of content.
