Oscar Winning Documentary Screened

There's another chance to see an Academy Award winning programme this weekend.
'Taxi To The Dark Side' took the accolade of Best Feature Documentary Award at the 2008 Awards.
The harrowing documentary tells the story of Dilawar, a young Afghan taxi driver, who was killed after being arrested along with his three Afghan passengers by United States troops.
Five days after his arrest, in December 2002, Dilawar died in his prison cell. Autopsy evidence concluded that he had died due to injuries inflicted by US soldiers at the prison.
The documentary goes over the details of the last weeks of Dilawar's life and shows how decisions taken in the US Administration created circumstances making Dilawar's brutal death possible.
The film was originally shown on BBC Parliament in November as part of the 'Why Democracy?' season.
It will be reshown on BBC Parliament this Saturday, 1 March (9.30pm).
The channel originally screened 12 hour-long films focused on contemporary democracy as part of the world's largest ever factual media event.
More than 40 broadcasters on all continents participated with films made by independent award-winning filmmakers from around the world, including China, India, Japan, Liberia, USA, Bolivia, Denmark, Afghanistan, Egypt, Pakistan and Russia.
