Picture Production Company Group Opens HD Centre Of Excellence

Creative marketing agency The Picture Production Company Group (PPC) has expanded its in-house post-production arm by opening an HD centre of excellence. The expansion will allow PPC to cope with growing demand from brand clients for HD sponsorship idents and commercials work.
“Our business has grown significantly over the last few months and clients increasingly want their work to be shot and posted in HD, so the time was right for us to invest in new systems for HD work,” said Mark Daly, Head of Creative for PPC.
“The HD centre of excellence aims to deliver the quality and expertise clients have come to expect from us - at whatever resolution they want.”
The HD centre is comprised of three HD editing suites – including an Autodesk Smoke HD editing and finishing system – as well as a state of the art audio suite and voice-over booth. The Smoke has been installed since the end of last year and has already been put to use on idents for Lynx and Mitsubishi. PPC also has two Mitsubishi commercials lined up for it.
“We work to tight deadlines on quick turnaround projects and deliver a high quality finish,” explained Daly.
“We chose Smoke because it’s very versatile and flexible, so when clients change their minds we can now make the changes in-house. It’s the industry standard and there’s a lot of talent available. It also allows us to offer grading for the first time – one of the few things we didn’t do in-house before.”
In addition to the new HD centre, PPC’s vast in-house post-production facility boasts a further 20 Avid editing suites, two Final Cut Pro suites, two audio suites, a voice-over booth and a 3D department with several licenses of Autodesk Maya 3D software.
