Root6 Restructures Service And Recruits Staff

Responding to the migration of broadcasters and post houses to file-based working, a leading UK creative technology reseller root6 has announced the restructuring of its service and support operations and the recruitment of new staff.
Root6’s John Harris said: ”Increasingly our customers want to create file-based workflows in data-centric rather than video-centric environments. They need to move large amounts of data swiftly and efficiently across networks, sharing projects and getting the best value from collaborative working.
“This means that knowledge of the IT arena has become as important as conventional video engineering. The combination of these skills is vital to the success of Systems Integration where we’ve been able to demonstrate this expertise on some major projects for Sky, five, Red Bee, Nickelodeon, MPC and Pepper.”
Heading up the restructured team are veteran engineer Phil Crawley and two original root6 founders, Graham McGuinness and Rupert Watson. They will act as Workflow Designers overseeing individual projects with the help of a team of Workflow Engineers to implement installation and commissioning. Dave Skeggs, formerly with ITV has recently joined the Workflow Engineering team.
For mainstream products such as those from Apple and Avid, ongoing accredited technical assistance is provided by a team of Support Engineers. A range of contracts to suit individual needs is available including on-site facility-wide support with extended hours cover.
