Atlantic Video Installs Quantel Pablo

Atlantic Video, the leading full-service digital broadcast and film production and post production facility on the East Coast (USA), recently installed a Pablo HD non-linear color correction system.
Since opening its doors in 1983, Atlantic Video, located at the Washington Television Center in Washington, D.C., has received numerous awards for its development, editorial, production and post production services. The company employs a creative and technical team of nearly 100 professionals supported by a $20 million, 53,000 square foot custom designed facility.
In an effort to remain a leader in the post production arena, Atlantic took steps to offer the industry state-of-the-art color correction services, an area the company was looking to expand in order to attract more work from the likes of the Discovery Channel and National Geographic.
"We knew that colour correction was an area we needed to grow and out of all the systems we looked at, Quantel’s Pablo was the most impressive," said Pat Nagy, Director of Post Production Services.
"All the systems out there are capable of doing color correction but Quantel stood out for its background rendering capabilities that allow the user to see the color correction essentially in real time, and its ability to work with any resolution on the timeline and deliver whatever format the client desires."
Pablo HD has a complete editing, effects and versioning tool set built in. This is of particular importance when it becomes necessary to make last minute changes and fixes.
"The client loves it and after we do the Pablo work and need to make other adjustments we don’t have to take the material to another room to offline," said Brad Perch, Vice President and General Manager.
"Now, changes can be made on the spot in the Pablo which saves a tremendous amount of time and money for our clients."
