BBC London Factual Expands
The appointment of 14 new executive producers for London Factual has been announced.
Keith Scholey, Controller, BBC Factual, said that the new posts have been created as part of the BBC's Creative Future plan, announced by Director-General Mark Thompson last month, and sees London Factual move from five studios to one single department.
Scholey said: "We have built a remarkably strong management team to lead creativity and production across the base.
"These appointments represent some of the greatest factual programme-makers in the industry with national and international reputations in their field and will make London Factual not just the biggest, but also the most varied and creative production base in the world."
Reporting to Karen O'Connor, Head of London Factual, the executive producers will provide the creative lead ensuring ideas generation and quality output is at the heart of Visions Productions.
O'Connor said: "I'm really looking forward to working with such a high calibre team of talent and experience. I'm sure that London Factual, working with the new in-house commissioning structure, will be a brilliant partnership leading to even greater success."
As key members of the London management team, they will play a full role in the leadership of the department, contributing to strategic direction, business planning and crucially building a vibrant production talent base.
Of the 14 appointments announced, four will act as Specialist Leads. They will be responsible for developing their specific subject area, growing and maintaining the BBC's reputation in the specialism.
The remaining posts are Creative Leads. As creative champions they will lead the production of content across all genres, working closely with the Specialist Leads particularly in development of ideas. Managing editorial quality control and ensuring the delivery is on brief and on budget is also part of their remit.
