Disney Channel Make Deals With UK Producers
Disney Channel has announced programming deals with UK producers Coolabi and Blue-Zoo Productions.
The announcement will be welcomed in the industry which has suffered a decline in British children’s programming recently.
Managing Director of Disney Channel UK, Robert Gilpy said: "There’s clearly concern about the volume of production of kids’ television in the UK and our contribution is that we are looking to produce more in the UK."
Disney Channel, which is available on Sky, Virgin Media, Top Up TV and HomeChoice, is funded wholly by subscriptions.
The two programmes are ‘The Shaila Show’ (Coolabi) and ‘Clever Clogs’ (Blue Zoo Productions).
The channel is also working with rights company Chorion on a new animated version of Enid Blyton’s ‘Famous Five’ to be released in 2008.
