‘ilab’ Expansion Completes The Picture

The UK’s newest film processing facility has announced the completion of a £3.5m expansion programme.
The major investment includes a Spirit Telecine for all rushes transfers, ensuring that only state-of-the-art equipment is used for each stage of the in-house rushes service.
The additional high-end ultrasonic cleaners, plus new darkroom facilities and the extremely flexible processing hours ensure clients have access to their rushes at the earliest possible opportunity within any 24 hr period, demonstrating ilab’s commitment to technical excellence backed with the most efficient and personal service.
ilab have also agreed with Kodak to be the first UK laboratory to work towards full accreditation for the ‘Kodak ImageCare’ award, thus ensuring that film-makers internationally can be confident that all ilab’s procedures and processes at are at the optimum levels for the most reliable and consistent negative processing service available anywhere.
The major investment complements their exhibited, purpose built, ‘state of the art’ dual gauge 35/16mm Photomec Silver Sprinter Negative Processor - a focal point for those who walk past 55 Poland Street. This is coupled with two Lipsner Smith CF900 Ultrasonic Cleaners - environmentally friendly and the newest models available in the UK - and the Spirit Telecine which offers SD and HD resolution grading for film-originated material as well as tape-to-tape grading in SD and HD. ilab offers data deliverables on multi formats including hard drive via DPX files.
This investment combined with ilab’s fully personalised, flexible service, ensures that all ilab clients can have the security and confidence in knowing that ilab provide a service dedicated to their needs.
Founding Director Nigel Horn said: "All of us at ilab have worked within this industry for a great many years and know that our clients must be able to trust us. That is why we have moved forward our plans for expansion and ensured that we work alongside industry leaders to guarantee best practices and professionalism at all times."
ilab are currently working on 'The Nutcracker: The Untold Story', a $65 million budget feature film shooting in Budapest.
