TRC Announces Participants For Inaugural Cross Creative Programme

The Research Centre (TRC) has announced the eight UK and Irish independent production companies selected for its brand new multi platform training initiative, Cross Creative.
The nine month programme has been designed to meet the needs of indies that are now looking to develop targeted cross-platform strategies and ideas. Each of the successful applicants also has access to a grant of £7k to contribute towards the hire of a multi media content creator.
The participants chosen for this year’s programme include, from Northern Ireland, David Cumming, head of development, Waddell Media; Stephen Stewart, MD, Green Inc, Dermot Lavery, MD, Double Band; Vincent Kinnaird, MD, Notasuch. Chosen From Newcastle are, Belinda Williams, Creative Director, Media 19 and David Reid, Development Producer, Different Ltd. From Leeds, Andy Abrahams, Head of Development at Real Life and Paul Bader, Creative Director at Screenhouse. Chosen from Dublin is David Farrell, Development Director at Tile Films.
The aim of the programme is to ensure the companies are developing cross-platform ideas that have maximum impact for commissioners.
The producers will have access to monthly master classes led by industry figures exploring the main opportunities and challenges in multi-media, including extending television content to other platforms; creating dedicated content for mobile media and the web; and understanding the changing behaviour of consumers.
The importance of integrating multi-platform thinking into programme concepts will be laid out as well as how technology can strengthen and enhance programme ideas.
Carole Dunlop, who heads up the Cross Creative programme added: “The candidates selected for Cross Creative have a real appetite for deepening their knowledge of multimedia and increasing their company’s strategic awareness of cross-platform thinking. We look forward to helping them realise the growth potential of their multi-platform offering.”
TRC’s sponsoring partners on Cross Creative are Northern Ireland Screen; Screen Yorkshire, Enterprise Ireland and Northern Film & Media.
