On2 Technologies Shareholders Approve Hantro Acquisition

On2 Technologies have announced that its shareholders approved the company’s acquisition of Hantro Products Oy, a leader in multimedia technology for mobile devices, making Hantro a wholly-owned subsidiary of On2 Technologies.
On2 is the leader in video compression technology, providing its VP6 for Adobe Flash solution which runs on 90% of the world’s PCs. The company’s customers range from AOL and Brightcove to Skype and XM Satellite Radio, and the Hantro acquisition positions On2 as a leader in the distribution and consumption of video on all platforms: televisions, game consoles, PCs, and mobile/portable devices.
Now, with its acquisition of Hantro, On2 will be making further in-roads into the mobile video space, embedding its technology in handsets manufactured by Nokia, Sanyo, and more than 20 other leading global device and semiconductor manufacturers.
Hantro’s technology has been implemented on more than 200 million devices to date and in mobile phones produced by five of the top six handset manufacturers.
