Nexus Productions Direct Campaign For Sky Italy

Nexus Productions director Jim Le Fevre has directed two strikingly original 30 and 15 second films for Sky Italy, the first two in a new campaign for the broadcaster.
Created within a large and filmic CG environment, the commercials are a colourful and seamless mix of live-action and 3D animation. Set on an island that floats above the clouds – held aloft by two enormous bumble bees - this magical and energetic place is the home and workplace to a fantastical group of characters, all of whom go about their daily tasks in making dreams become reality for the people of the world below.
The action revolves around Dr Watt, a hair-brained inventor, coming up with a crazy idea to mix up a special dream. After discovering that people have different tastes, Dr Watt and his team swing into action and the unpacking machines explodes into activity, customizing dream packages for its audience.
Jim Le Fevre, Director, said: “What drew me to this project for Sky was creating a coherent magical and narrative world that implied more magical and colourful worlds within, something not necessarily restrained by a single advert for broadcast. It was therefore important to establish and develop narratives for even the least important characters.
"We wanted to create a place that brought with it its own solutions to where the various promotions from Sky came from, a place where, given a new promotion, we could journey to find the respective department hidden within its walls. Again, the excitement of creating something that was more 'story-based' meant that we could approach each advert as its own adventure where viewers are left wanting more.
"The sheer amount of detail layered into each of the shots demanded that at each level of the process the crew injected their own talents and strengths from animation to texturing and lighting."
The next films in the campaign, due in November and December, will feature the Oscar winning actor Dustin Hoffman.
