Dreamachine Commence Production On 'Aftermath'

Dreamachine has announced the start of production on Academy Award winner Caroline Link’s powerful new contemporary drama 'Aftermath'. The film is co-produced by Constantin Film and Bavaria Film and will be shot on location in Germany. Dreamachine will handle worldwide sales.
“After working with Constantin on 'The Elementary Particles' we are delighted to be developing our relationship through Aftermath because we believe passionately that this beautiful and ultimately uplifting and cathartic story will touch audiences’ hearts,” commented Hengameh Panahi, Co-Chairman of Dreamachine.
Based on the novel by Scott Campbell, Aftermath is written and directed by Caroline Link, who was nominated for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award in 1998 for the film Jenseits Der Stille (Beyond Silence) and subsequently won the award in 2001 for her film Nirgendwo in Afrika (Nowhere in Afrika) which also went on to win Lolas (German Film Awards) for Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Music and Best Supporting Actor.
Starring Karoline Herfurth as Lilli, seen recently in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer; Corinna Harfouch (Downfall, Atomised) as her mother Eliane; Josef Bierbichler (Tom Tykwer’s Deadly Maria and Winter Sleepers and Michael Haneke’s Code Unknown) as the artist Max and the prolific actor Hanns Zischler (Ripley’s Game, The Educators, Munich) as Thomas.
Aftermath is produced by Uschi Reich (The Flying Classroom, Annaluise & Anton, Wild Chicks 1 & 2) and Martin Moszkowicz (Perfume – The Story of a Murderer, Am I Beautiful) and executive produced by Robert Cort (Save the Last Dance, Runaway Bride) and Scarlett Lacey (Save the Last Dance, Against the Ropes). Completing the production team will be director of photography Bella Halben (In Another League, Winter Journey); production designer Susanne Bieling who has worked on all of Caroline Link’s films as well as recent German hits, Bibi Blocksberg, The White Massai and Wild Chicks and costume designer Barbara Grupp (The Red Cuckatoo, Nowhere In Africa).
Dreamachine is a diversified multi-media business, based in London, Paris and Toronto, encompassing sales, distribution, production and financing of quality cinema. Dreamachine’s current line-up of new productions includes films directed by Phillip Noyce, Jon Amiel, Todd Haynes, Michael Winterbottom and Michael Haneke. Dreamachine's catalogue of 500 feature films comprises an enviable who's who of the world’s greatest filmmakers including Bernardo Bertolucci, David Cronenberg, Stephen Frears, Takeshi Kitano and Peter Weir.
