Canvas Media Chooses Sony Vegas Editing Solution To Cover Oscars

News Image
Sony recently announced that Canvas Media, the radio-led multi-media creative agency owned by UK commercial radio giant GCap Media, used Sony Vegas software to capture, edit and render Oscar week coverage for 53 UK-based radio station websites, including London’s Capital FM and Capital Gold FM.
The coverage was delivered as a daily diary from GCap Media's entertainment news reporter, in the run up to, and throughout, Oscar night. Working with Sony Vegas software on just two laptops, the Canvas Media team created, and then regionalized, each edit to give it the ‘local’ feel of each of GCap Media’s UK stations. The daily updates were then sent back to streaming servers and featured on GCap Media’s station websites back in London. See the results at: www.capitalfm.com
"We are delighted that Canvas Media saw Sony Vegas software as the natural choice for covering the excitement of the Oscars,” said Dave Chaimson, VP, Worldwide Marketing, Sony Media Software. “We feel this demonstrates the versatility of Sony Vegas software. By providing a professional solution that imports just about any type of media content, requires no additional hardware for editing other than the PC on which its running, and delivers final files in a wide variety of output formats, it is truly ideal match for demanding field-based work."
Tom Rudolph, Head of Audio Visual at Canvas Media commented: "Sony Vegas is a fantastic product, which handles virtually every form of media that we throw at it. As we work primarily producing multi-media content, the software allows us to easily output in any format a client requests."
In addition to this year’s Oscars, Sony Vegas has successfully delivered a number of Canvas Media productions.
Rudolph added: "We have selected Sony Vegas as our first choice editing software for the past five years on a range of multi-media projects, from multi-camera live-gig edits, phone downloads, PSP encodes, brand videos and DVD productions, to long-form documentaries such as '30 Years of Capital Radio' projected at the Odeon Leicester Square for the station’s anniversary.
"We have also had fantastic results using Sony Vegas to create iPod downloads, finding the main concept codec the software provides the best the industry has to offer."
