One of the most successful and influential figures in television is returning to his roots by joining the Board of Waddell Media.
Following the sale of 'Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?' and Celador International to 2waytraffic, and the management buy-out of Celador Productions, company founder and former Managing Director Paul Smith has agreed to become a non-executive director of the company.
Brian Waddell, chairman and managing director of Waddell Media, welcomed his arrival: "Paul, who comes from Northern Ireland, will bring a wealth of experience to our Board as his experience extends to all aspects of the television industry."
Smith, who remains as Managing Director of Celador Films, which includes the award winning 'Dirty Pretty Things', 'Separate Lies' and 'The Descent' in its catalogue, is pleased to be returning to his home territory to be involved in this expanding company: "I'm delighted to be working in Belfast again and very much look forward to joining Brian and Jannine along with the rest of the excellent team at Waddell Media. I've made no secret of my love of visiting my homeland. My relationship with Celador Productions and Celador International continues and I am grateful for their approval of me taking this non-executive role.
"We are thrilled to have Paul Smith on board at Waddell Media, during this period of expansion for the company," said head of programmes, Jannine Waddell. "We are currently extending our factual and entertainment programming on both sides of the Atlantic and clocking up amazing viewing figures for some of our flagship shows."
